The Following Report Will Be Discussing The Implementation

The following report will be discussing the implementation of ‘Golden rules’ in the practitioner’s setting to help manage and support the behaviour of children aged three to five years old. The need for this implementation was discovered through a SWOT analysis the practitioner conducted keeping in focus the safety of the children. A Swot analysis is a tool used to identify an organisation or settings strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (ODI, 2009). The strengths and weaknesses are related to internal factors whereas, opportunities and threats are the external factors (Development Impact and You, 2017). The setting follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) (2017), which is the framework for children from birth to five†¦show more content†¦There are a few reasons for having golden rules in the setting the first to help manage the behaviour of the children which is a requirement from the EYFS (2017), as this will ensure the safety of others. Secondly, to help the children to respect one another with is one of the characteristics of the British Values (Citizen Foundation, 2017). Lastly, and most importantly is help provide a safer environment for all the children. To see how the practitioner is aiming to implement the golden rules please see appendix two. The practitioner decided implement golden rules with the support of the children as this will make it more meaning full for the children. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), is a legally-binding international agreement which states in article 12 state that children should be given the right to voice their views and their views should be listened to (Unicef, 2017). Taking article 12 into consideration the practitioner plans to involve the children by asking them what rules they would like to set for their room, allowing the children to express their views and feelings. By allowing children to make decisions in what their golden rules should be the practitioner will be incorporating the characteristic of democracy from the ‘British Values’, (Citizen Foundation, 2017).
